What the map counts

Each distinct country or territory in your log counts once, whether you visit once or a hundred times. The world map includes territories as separate destinations, so this is not a “195 countries” challenge.

The state tracker counts the 50 U.S. states. Washington, D.C. is not counted as a state.

Map boundaries follow Natural Earth’s geographic data and may differ from political definitions. Use the destination search for small islands or places that are hard to tap.

Repeat visits are separate trip records. A map mark counts as one visit until trips are added; it never adds an extra visit on top of those trips. For a journey through several countries, add one record per country. Year filters include any trip overlapping that year.

Undated visits count toward your totals, but don’t appear when filtering by a specific year.

Your tracker, made simple

Mark places

Click a country or state on the map, use destination search, or choose Browse destinations. Details are optional.

Add memories

Add a separate trip for each visit. Dates, cities, notes and an external photo-album link are optional. For trips through several countries, add one record per country.

Import history

Use the spreadsheet template, or upload a supported document. Review the extracted trips before saving. We skip exact duplicates. Limit: 8 MB and 500 trips per import. Scanned PDFs and older .xls/.doc files need conversion first.

Edit, remove and recover

Travel Log has Edit and Remove controls. Account & data lets you restore removed listings for 30 days or download your history.

Using a phone or assistive technology

Browse destinations provides a searchable list without map gestures. Every feature has keyboard controls. You can add this tracker to your phone’s home screen using your browser’s Share or Install menu. An internet connection is required.

Tracker privacy

Your account and travel log are private by default. There is no public profile, public travel feed or automatic social posting.

What we store

Your name, email, a protected password hash, marked destinations, and the trip details you choose to enter. Photo links point to albums elsewhere; we do not copy those albums. Imports are processed for review; original uploads are not retained by the tracker.

How we use it

To save and display your travel history, verify your email, recover your account, and operate the service. We do not sell your travel records or use them for targeted advertising. The tracker does not send your trip details to an AI service.

Cookies and service providers

A necessary session cookie keeps you signed in. Your browser may remember whether you hid the welcome tips. Hosting and email providers process information needed to operate the service; the host may keep security and access logs. Tracker account emails are transactional and separate from any website newsletter.

Sharing is your choice

Share images contain marked places, totals and your chosen headline. Downloading does not publish them. If you share an image or open an external album, that platform’s privacy practices apply.

Retention and deletion

Your active log remains until you remove it or delete your account. Removed listings are recoverable for 30 days. Account deletion removes active tracker records immediately. A restricted deletion record, without your email or travel history, helps prevent backup recovery from bringing your account back. WP Engine guarantees 30 days of backup retention; some older backups may remain briefly. Restricted backups can contain deleted data, and recovery must honor account deletions. Account recovery links expire after 30 minutes; verification links expire after 24 hours.
