We use AI tools in making some of what you read here. You are entitled to know where, how far, and what we do to make sure it is true. This page says so plainly.
The rule we work to
A human decides what we publish, and a human is accountable for it. No AI system publishes to this site on its own. AI is a drafting and production tool here, not an author of record and not a source of fact.
This matters more than usual in our subject. Readers use our material to decide whether they can get a wheelchair through a cabin door, whether a cruise line will accept their service animal’s paperwork, or whether a tender port is survivable with a mobility device. A plausible-sounding invention could strand someone. So every access-critical claim is checked against a primary source by a person, or it is explicitly flagged as something you must verify yourself.
Where we use AI
Written content
Some articles and reference material are drafted with AI assistance and then edited, fact-checked, and approved by a human editor before publication. Some are written entirely by a person. In both cases the editorial judgment, the structure, the conclusions, and the responsibility are human.
AI is never the source of a factual claim about a cruise line, a ship, a port, a vendor, a price, or a regulation. Those come from named sources.
Images and illustrations
Some illustrations, cover art, and chapter opening images — on this site and in The Cruise Access Field Guide — are AI-generated. They are used as illustration and atmosphere.
An AI-generated image is never presented as documentary evidence. We do not use AI images to depict a real ship, a real cabin, a real port, a real piece of equipment, or a real person, and we do not use them to show what an accessible feature actually looks like. Where you are looking at a photograph of a real place, person, or piece of equipment, it is a real photograph — usually one Chillie took.
Firsthand experience is never synthetic
Trip reports, ship reviews, and the “here is what actually happened” passages come from Chillie Falls’s own travel. An AI tool may have helped tidy the prose. It did not invent the experience, the ship, the crew member, or the outcome.
Production and site work
We use AI assistance for ordinary production tasks — editing, formatting, code, alt-text drafting, and summarising research for a human to check. This does not affect the substance of what you read.
Where we do not use AI
- We do not publish AI-written content without human review.
- We do not use AI to fabricate reviews, testimonials, quotes, or reader stories.
- We do not use AI to generate the accessibility policy facts in our research — those are read off primary sources and cited.
- We do not use AI images to misrepresent a real ship, place, product, or person.
How we verify facts
Our reference material follows one rule with no third option: every cruise-line, regulatory, port, or vendor claim either carries a source and the date we verified it, or is explicitly marked “verify per sailing.”
“Verify per sailing” is not a hedge. It means the answer genuinely varies by ship, sailing, or booking, and the guide gives you the script and the contact to get the answer for your trip. Policies change; a date-stamped fact tells you how fresh our information is so you can judge whether to re-check it.
The AI Trip Planning Companion
The Cruise Access Field Guide includes a machine-readable companion file for readers who want to use a document-capable AI assistant to help plan a trip. Two things about it:
- It is a tool you run, on your own AI assistant. We do not operate it, we do not see what you put into it, and nothing you type into your assistant reaches us.
- Its output is not our guidance. An AI assistant working from the guide can misread it, or blend it with stale information from elsewhere. Treat its output as a draft plan to check, not as verified advice. The guide instructs it to cite the section it used and to separate confirmed policy from open questions — check those citations.
An AI assistant’s answer is never a substitute for confirmation from your cruise line, and we are not responsible for what a third-party AI system tells you.
Reader-facing AI features on this site
We do not currently run a chatbot or an AI assistant on accessadventure.net. If we add one, we will label it clearly as AI and update this page before it goes live.
Tell us if something looks wrong
If you find a statement on this site that appears fabricated, out of date, or contradicted by the cruise line, please tell us. Corrections to access-critical information get priority, and we will fix or remove the claim rather than defend it.
